Introduction
RMLNLU invites applications for admission to its full-time Ph.D. Programme in Law and Allied Subjects for Academic Year 2025–26. Admission involves a written test and interview, with reservations and relaxations as per University/UGC norms. The programme medium and thesis submission are in English.
Eligibility Criteria
- Ph.D. in Law: LL.M. with at least 55% aggregate or equivalent grade (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL of U.P./Differently-abled).
- Ph.D. in Allied Subjects: Master’s degree (55% or grade B) + Law degree / publications / practical experience.
- 4-Year Bachelor’s Route: Minimum 75% aggregate (5% relaxation for reserved categories).
- M.Phil. holders: Completed with at least 55% aggregate.
- Result Awaited: Allowed but must present PG mark sheet at interview.
Application Process
- Apply online and upload PG mark sheet, research proposal, and valid category certificates.
- Submit by September 12, 2025 (5:00 PM).
- Pay fee ₹1100 (₹550 for SC/ST of U.P.) via SBI Collect.
- Proposal must cover: field, rationale, literature, methodology, scope, and interface with law.
Note: Incomplete forms will be rejected.
Selection Procedure
- Written Test — 70 marks, 90 minutes, English, qualifying 50% (45% reserved).
- Interview — 30 marks, assess research competence.
- Merit List = Written + Interview. Tie → PG marks → UG marks → Age.

Programme Duration
- Min 3 years; max 6 years.
- Up to 8 years with re-registration.
- +2 years relaxation for women/PwD (max 10 years).
- Women may avail 240 days maternity/child-care leave.
