Eligibility Criteria for CU PhD Admission 2025-26
- Candidates must have an M.Sc. (Agriculture) in Genetics & Plant Breeding or a related discipline, subject to endorsement by the Ph.D. Research Advisory Board.
- A minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent ‘B’ grade on the UGC 7-point scale is required.
- A 5% relaxation in marks (from 55% to 50%) is available for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled candidates, as per UGC Ph.D. Regulation.
- Candidates who have qualified for NET/GATE are exempt from the entrance test. They only need to submit a statement of purpose or a brief research outline and appear for the interview.
Entrance Test Details
The entrance test will be for 50 marks and will consist of objective or short-answer type questions. The duration of the test is one hour. To qualify for the interview, candidates must score at least 50% on the entrance test. The interview will be held for candidates who have qualified the entrance test and those with NET/GATE qualifications. Successful candidates will be eligible to register for their Ph.D. in the Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding.
