Raman Research Institute PhD Admission 2025 Winter Overview
Raman Research Institute (RRI) is a premier research institution established in 1948 by Nobel Laureate Sir CV Raman. The Institute conducts cutting-edge research in frontier areas of Physics under contemporary research themes. Applications are now invited from motivated and qualified students for admission to the PhD programme 2025 (Winter Admissions).

Format of the PhD Programme
Research Scholars will undergo intensive course work during the first year with the medium of instruction being English. Upon successful completion of the course work and other requirements for confirmation of their candidature research students will be registered for a PhD degree with the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi.
Scholarship and Financial Support
The scholarship is provided for a period of five years.

Who Are Eligible for Raman Research Institute PhD Admission 2025 (Winter)
Candidates seeking winter admission in the PhD programme must necessarily have one of the following qualifications:
- One year/2-semester Master’s degree in Physics / Mathematics / Astronomy / Optics / Photonics / Biophysics after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade.
- Two year/4-semester Master’s degree in Physics / Mathematics / Astronomy / Optics / Photonics / Biophysics after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree programme or equivalent qualifications with at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade.
- 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering with 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
- M.Phil. in Physics/Mathematics degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
- A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is allowed to reserved candidates.
- Students who expect to complete their final degree in the academic year 2024-2025 may also apply provided they can produce their final score card at the time of admission.
- Reservations for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates will be as per Institute norms.
Selection Procedure for Raman Research Institute PhD Admission 2025
Candidates seeking admission are called for an interview based on their valid performance/score in specific National Level Tests.
Qualifying Tests for Interview Call
Candidates must have a valid score in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-PHYSICS) OR in any of the following National Level Tests:

- GATE (Physics).
- GRE (Physics).

The final selection of all candidates is based on performance in the interviews.
