Admission Process and Fees Details
Application Submission and Fees:
The application process for the ABV IIITM Gwalior PhD Admission 2025-26 is conducted online. Applicants must fill out the form at www.iiitm.ac.in. The application fee must be deposited through an online payment gateway available on the institute’s home page.| Category | Application Fee |

Admission Process:
- Selection is based on previous academic records and/or performance in the written test/presentation-cum-interview.
- The admission committee will recommend deserving applicants for admission.
- Selected applicants will receive an admission offer letter from the academic section along with detailed fees and other information. (Note: Full fee structure is available on the Institute Website.)
- It is not required to send the form by post. However, the applicant must bring the filled original copy of the application form (word file format available on the website) with a signature on each page at the time of the interview.
Required Documents at Interview:
Shortlisted applicants must bring copies of the following documents, along with all originals for verification:- Copy of academic credentials.
- Applicable scorecards (GATE/NET).
- Valid category certificate (Seats are reserved for EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD categories as per GoI norms).
- Experience certificate.
- No-objection certificate (only for part-time applicants).
- Ph.D. application fee receipt.
- Two (02) recent passport-size colour photographs.
Important Note: Failing to bring these documents will result in the applicant not being allowed for the interview. Applicants should regularly visit the Institute website for results/important announcements.
Eligibility Criteria for Full-Time Ph.D. Programme
C1. For Engineering Departments (CSE, IT, EEE):
- GATE/NET Qualified Applicants: Master’s degree in engineering/technology/electronics/mechatronics or equivalent with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or higher, and must have qualified GATE/NET. OR, B.Tech. degree with 75% marks or 8.0 CGPA or higher and a valid GATE Score.
- GATE Exemption: Applicants with a B.Tech. or equivalent degree from Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) with a CGPA of 8.0 or higher at B.Tech. level are exempt from the GATE requirement.
- Non-GATE/Non-NET Applicants: Master’s degree in engineering/technology or equivalent with 75% marks or 8.0 CGPA or higher. These applicants are considered against vacant seats after filling seats from GATE/NET qualified applicants, and must appear for the Institute’s PhD Admission Written Test and Presentation/Interview.
C2. For the Department of Management Studies:
- MTech/ME/MD or equivalent with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or higher and qualified GATE or equivalent examination.
- MSc/MBA/MA/MBBS or equivalent with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or higher and a National Level examination like CSIR/UGC-NET or JRF/ICAR/ICMR/DST fellowship.
C3. For the Department of Engineering Sciences:
- MSc/MTech/ME or equivalent in relevant fields (Physics/Mathematics branches) with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or higher, first division at the undergraduate level, and qualified GATE/NET.
Eligibility Criteria for Part-Time Ph.D. Programme
The Part-Time Ph.D. program is designed for professionals working in Industries, Academic Institutions, or Research and Development (R&D) sections.Minimum Experience Requirement:
- Applicants must have a minimum of two (02) years of experience in a relevant area after their PG degree.
- The minimum PG qualification is relaxed to UG qualification (only for B.E/B.Tech background) for applicants having a minimum of five (05) years of total experience from Industry/Academic Institutions/R&D.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Engineering: MTech degree or equivalent with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or higher. BTech holders are eligible with 75% marks or 8.0 CGPA or higher.
- Management Studies: MTech/ME/MD or equivalent with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or higher. OR MSc/MBA/MA/MBBS or equivalent with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or higher.
General Rules for Part-Time Applicants
The applicant should ensure that their official duties permit them to devote sufficient time to research. Key rules include:- Facilities for pursuing research work should be available at the applicants’ place of work and recognized for the chosen field of research.
- Part-time Ph.D. Scholars must spend one month in every academic year at ABV-IIITM Gwalior. This may be covered in multiple visits, with each visit being for a minimum of 5 days.
