Chapter 1: Important Dates & Schedule

Chapter 2: Eligibility Criteria for Kurukshetra University PhD Admission 2025-26 Scholars

The admission criteria (1-9) for Kurukshetra University PhD Admission 2025-26 are prescribed below:

1. A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree, or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
2. A relaxation of 5% marks (i.e., 50% marks) or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to OSC/DSC/BC (Block A&B) (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-Abled/Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of Haryana.
3. A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree Honors with Research programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. (A relaxation of 5% is allowed for reserved categories of Haryana).
4. Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade shall be eligible for admission. (A relaxation of 5% is allowed for reserved categories of Haryana).
5. A candidate seeking admission on a topic in Classical Indian Philosophy involving a particular Philosophical text in Sanskrit must have passed a Diploma course in Sanskrit if the candidate did not have Sanskrit at B.A. or M.A. Level.
6. For calculating percentage of marks for Master’s Degree in the case of Education and Library & Information Science, percentage marks obtained in B.Ed. + M.Ed. and B.Lib.Sc. + M.Lib.Sc. (when each is a one-year course) shall be halved.
7. In addition to above, two years’ experience, as a full time employee, is required for admission to Part Time Ph.D. programme.
8. It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure his/her eligibility and fulfillment of such other condition(s) as may be prescribed for admission in the rules and regulations of the University.
9. The candidate(s) pursuing M.Phil. Course, if otherwise eligible, may submit his/her application form for admission to Ph.D. course. The admission of the candidate shall be considered provisionally if his/her M.Phil. Dissertation has been got evaluated and viva-voce is pending.

Chapter 5: Procedure to Prepare Merit List

5.1 Admission (Full-time scholar)

Admission to Ph.D. Program is based on a valid score in NET/GATE/GPAT or an Entrance Test, and is subject to the availability of the research area and the expert guide.

Entrance Test Details (For subjects like Pharmacy/ Mechanical Engg.)

• Scheme: 100 Objective Type Questions (MCQs).
• Duration: 2 (Two) hours without any break.
• Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
• Qualifying Marks: 50% marks (45% for reserved categories of Haryana).

5.1.3 Weightages & Tie Resolution

Up to a maximum of 10 marks are added to the merit score for Kurukshetra University PhD Admission 2025-26:

• Sponsored Research Project (at KUK): 5-10 marks.
• Qualifying Examination from KUK: 5 Marks.
• Regular/Approved Teacher/Scientist: Up to 5 Marks (1 mark per year of consecutive service).

5.2 Admission (Part-time scholar)

Admission for Part-Time scholars is based on a Subjective Written Test (70 Marks) followed by other merit components. Candidates must provide a No Objection Certificate (Annexure XX).

Counseling & Seat Allotment Process Details

The Counseling and Document Verification process runs from 12-11-2025 to 15-11-2025.

1. Document Verification: On-site (in-person) at the Department is mandatory.
2. Online Document Verification: Distant Candidates must seek prior permission from the Chairperson for online verification.
3. Seat Allocation Criteria: Seats are allotted based strictly on merit (as prepared by Chapter 5 procedure) and the availability of guides in the chosen research area.
4. Fee Payment: Must be deposited via the online portal by the deadline (18-11-2025) to confirm the seat.

Chapter 4: Important Instructions for Ph.D. Applicants (1-16)

Candidates must carefully read all 16 instructions to avoid cancellation of admission or other legal issues:

1. Any legal dispute relating to admission of students will be subject to Courts at Kurukshetra or Courts having jurisdiction in Kurukshetra.
2. The Kurukshetra University can make use of the data generated, for the purpose of research and analysis.
3. KUK does not take any responsibility for the candidates not being able to submit their Application Forms by the last date and time on account of any reason beyond the control of the KUK.
4. The Chairperson/Director of a University Teaching Departments/Institute is to ensure that ineligible candidate(s) is/are not allowed admission. Admission allowed in contravention of the Ordinance will be treated as cancelled ab-initio.
5. Every student must follow University rules and regulations in maintaining discipline. If a student is found involved in any act/s of indiscipline, all dues paid by him/her shall be forfeited and no refund will be allowed.
6. Due to paucity of hostel accommodation, the University may not be in a position to accommodate all the Research Scholars in the hostels.
7. Nothing contained in this HBI should be construed to convey sanction for which University Regulations in Calendars Vol. I, II and the relevant rules in Calendar Vol. III alone are applicable.
8. Candidates who have passed/appeared in the qualifying examination in current session must submit Character Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended as per specimen given in Annexure-I.
9. If the concerned authorities are not satisfied with the character/past behaviour/antecedents of a candidate, they may refuse to admit him/her to any programme of study. The Vice-Chancellor may cancel the admission of any student for a specified period.
10. The list of Fake Universities declared by UGC and non-recognized Boards of School Education, Haryana, Bhiwani, must be consulted before finalizing admissions.
11. The regular/contractual employee of Kurukshetra University or its affiliated College or any other outside organization is required to submit “No Objection Certificate” for a full time Ph.D. program from his/her respective organization at the time of submission of application form as per Annexure XIX.
12. Candidate has to provide a “No Objection Certificate” for a part-time Ph.D. programme from the appropriate authority of the organization where the candidate is employed at the time of submission of application form as per Annexure XX.
13. The candidates from Haryana must be in possession of Family ID (Parivar Pehchan Patra – PPP) for submission of their admission fee.
14. Candidates after taking admission in any programme on the Campus other than an Evening Programme can also take admission in Evening Certificate/Diploma programmes.
15. For information regarding Syllabus, Library services, admission to Hostels, fee concession, scholarships etc. the candidates are advised to contact the Chairperson/Director of the Department/ Institute concerned.
