Categories of Ph.D. Students for IIIT Kottayam PhD Admission 2025-26
The **IIIT Kottayam PhD Admission 2025-26** is open to candidates under four distinct categories:
- i) SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS (FULL-TIME): These students work full-time for their Ph.D. degree and receive assistantship/fellowship from recognized funding agencies such as INSPIRE, CSIR, UGC, NBHM, or any other recognized funding agency.
- ii) SPONSORED (FULL-TIME): Candidates in this category are sponsored by a recognized R&D organization, academic institution, government organization, or industry, or are QIP candidates. They must be a regular employee of the sponsoring organization with at least one year of professional experience. The Institute does not provide financial assistantship to these students. A sponsorship letter is mandatory.
- iii) SELF-FINANCED (FULL-TIME): Full-time students in this category are not provided with any financial assistantship/fellowship by the Institute, except for a limited number of teaching assistantships offered on a case-to-case/need basis.
- iv) EXTERNAL REGISTRANTS: This category is for candidates working in Industries/Institutes/Research Organisations. They can pursue the Ph.D. Programme while continuing their duties at their parent organization. Financial assistance is not provided by the Institute. An External registrant scholar is required to spend a one-semester residential program, preferably in the first year during the course work. A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is required with the application.
