Essential Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for the BRIC-ILS PhD program:
- Academic Qualification: Must have passed M.Sc. / M.Tech. / M.Pharm./ M.V.Sc. or an equivalent qualification in Life Sciences and allied subjects (Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Biophysics/ Chemistry/ Microbiology).
- Minimum Marks: A minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in the qualifying examination is required. Relaxation is applicable as per Government of India (GOI) guidelines.
- National Fellowship: Candidates must have qualified for a national-level competitive fellowship, such as CSIR/UGC-JRF, DBT-JRF, UGC-RGNF, ICMR-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, or any other fellowship offered by the Government of India, having a valid fellowship for five years.
- Provisional Application: Candidates awaiting final results of their qualifying degree may apply provisionally, but must produce the final mark sheet before joining, if selected.

Application Process & Fees
Interested and eligible candidates are required to follow the steps outlined below to successfully apply for the program:

- Application Fee: A non-refundable fee of ₹500/- is mandatory for all applicants, except those belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories.

- Fellowship: The fellowship and other emoluments for the selected candidates will be provided as per the guidelines and revisions of the respective funding agencies (DST/ DBT /CSIR/UGC/ICMR).

- Selection Procedure: The selection involves a rigorous 3-tier process for fellowship holders:
- Screening and Shortlisting based on eligibility and cut-off criteria.
- First round of Interview (Online).
- Second and Final round of Interview (Offline at ILS).
- Accommodation: Accommodation for candidates attending the final offline interview round will be provided by the Institute on a payment basis, subject to prior intimation and availability (first-come, first-served).
- Travel Reimbursement: To and fro bus/rail fare by the shortest route, limited to sleeper class, will be reimbursed to all candidates who appear for the final round of the interview.
- Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years as of the last date of application submission. Age relaxation (up to 5 years for SC/ST/PwD/Female and 3 years for OBC-NCL) will be applied as per GOI rules.
- Disqualification: Providing false/incorrect information or non-possession of essential qualifications at any stage will lead to immediate disqualification.
