The Aliah University (AU) PhD Admission 2025-2026 notification has been released by Aliah University, an autonomous institution approved by UGC, AICTE, and NCTE under the Dept. of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Govt. of West Bengal. Online applications are invited from eligible Indian nationals only for admission to the PhD Programme in 22 subjects.

Detailed Eligibility Criteria for Aliah University (AU) PhD Admission 2025-2026
Candidates seeking admission for the Aliah University (AU) PhD Admission 2025-2026 must meet one of the following criteria:
- Master’s Degree (55% marks):
- Completed a 1-year/2-semester master’s degree after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree OR a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree after a 3-year or 4-year bachelor’s degree.
- Must have at least 55% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade).
- Relaxation: A 5% relaxation (55% to 50%) is allowed for Differently-Abled candidates.
- Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree (75% marks):
- Completed a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade).
- Relaxation: A 5% relaxation (75% to 70%) is allowed for Differently-Abled candidates.
- M.Phil. Programme (55% marks):
- Completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade).
- Relaxation: A 5% relaxation (55% to 50%) is allowed for Differently-Abled candidates.
Selection Procedure for Aliah University (AU) PhD Admission 2025-2026
The University will admit applicants through either an interview for national test qualifiers or an entrance test for Islamic Theology, followed by an interview.
Modes of Admission
- Interview Only: For candidates who have qualified in UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR-NET / WB-SET / GATE or other similar national-level tests.
- AURET + Interview: For the subject Islamic Theology only, through the Aliah University Research Eligibility Test (AURET). The syllabus is 50% research methodology and 50% subject-specific content.
Weightage for Selection (Blocks A, B, and C)
All eligible candidates must appear for an INTERVIEW. The final admission will be based on the combined merit of academic marks/test scores and the marks obtained in the interview/viva-voce.

Application Procedure and Fee for Aliah University (AU) PhD Admission 2025-2026
The application for the Aliah University (AU) PhD Admission 2025-2026 is a mandatory two-step process: online form submission and hard copy document submission.
Online Application and Fee
Log in to the university website (www.aliah.ac.in). Candidates need an ABC ID / APAAR ID and Aadhar Number to proceed. The last date for online submission is 25th November 2025.
The application fee for the PhD programme is Rupees Five Hundred Only (Rs. 500/-).
Hard Copy Submission
The printout of the submitted online application form, along with the payment receipt and required documents, must be submitted in a sealed envelope to the university.
Deadline for Hard Copy: 3rd December 2025, 5.00 pm.

Mandatory Documents:
- Self-attested copies of all testimonials (mark sheets and certificates).
- Self-attested copy of all relevant national-level test certificates (UGC-NET/GATE/etc.).
- Copy of Application Fee Payment Receipt.
- For Part-time PhD: Original No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer (at the time of admission).

Fellowship Information for Aliah University (AU) PhD Admission 2025-2026
Aliah University does not provide any fellowship. However, full-time scholars may apply for external fellowships, subject to the terms and conditions of the funding agencies. These include:
