The Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) PhD Admission 2025-26 notification has been released for the full-time Ph.D. Programme for the academic session 2025. This admission is strictly for female candidates only, in consonance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Awards of Ph.D. Degree) Regulation 2022. The University, which was upgraded from Jamshedpur Women’s College, is inviting applications from eligible candidates through an online process. Applicants are advised to go through the Jamshedpur Women’s University Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree Regulations: 2025 available on the University website for detailed guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria for Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) PhD Admission 2025-26

  1. Only Women candidates are eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Program.
  2. Candidates must be qualified in UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/JRF/GATE/CEED or similar National level tests.
  3. Candidates must possess one of the following Master’s degree qualifications:
    • A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree, OR
    • A 2-year/4-semester master’s degree after a 3-year bachelor’s degree.
  4. The Master’s degree must have at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
  5. A relaxation of 5% marks is allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories.
  6. A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme must have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate (with a 5% relaxation for reserved categories).

How to Apply Online

  1. Visit the Institute website www.jwu.ac.in.
  2. Click/Tap on “JWUPhDadmission2025” to register.
  3. Register by providing email id and contact number; login credentials will be sent through mail/SMS.
  4. Log in and fill in the required personal and academic details.
  5. Upload scanned photograph and signature.
  6. Pay the non-refundable application fee.
  7. Take a print out of the submitted application form for future reference.

Selection Procedure (No Written Test)

Admission to the Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) PhD Admission 2025-26 program will be based only on an Interview/Viva-voce test, as there will be no written entrance test. Only UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/JRF/GATE/CEED and similar National level test qualified candidates are eligible to apply.

Interview/Viva Voce Details:

  • The total marks for the Interview/Viva Voce will be 100.
  • The interview consists of two components:
    • Writing a one-page research proposal: 60 marks
    • Personal interview: 40 marks
  • For candidates qualified under NET Categories 2 and 3 (without JRF), the final selection merit will be based on: 70% weightage for NET test scores and 30% weightage for the Interview/Viva Voce.
  • JRF-qualified students are admitted solely based on the interview as per UGC regulations.

Important Notes

  • Candidates must apply for one department/subject only. Applying for more than one subject requires submitting a separate online form with a new email ID and depositing the requisite fee again.
  • 10% seats are reserved for EWS Candidates.
  • For reserved categories, only Caste Certificates of Jharkhand State are valid.
  • The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the University website on 20 January 2026.
