The Presidency University PhD Admission 2025-26 (Even Semester) notification has been released by Presidency University, Kolkata. Online applications are currently being invited from UGC or UGC-CSIR NET qualified candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme for the session 2025-2026 (Even). This opportunity is exclusively for candidates who are qualified for the UGC or UGC-CSIR NET. The admission process covers various departments, schools, and institutes within the university. Essential Eligibility Criteria for PhD Programme
Candidates applying for the Presidency University PhD Admission 2025-26 (Even Semester) must meet the following essential qualifications:- Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s degree with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST Person with Disability (PwD) as per UGC guidelines.
- Applicants must be UGC or UGC-CSIR NET qualified and hold a valid NET certificate.
- The marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in Category 2 (LS & PhD) and Category 3 (PhD only) will be valid for a period of one year for admission to Ph.D.
Application Procedure and Application Fee
The application procedure for the PhD Programme requires several steps and involves a non-refundable application fee. No application will be considered without the payment of the application fee.- Interested candidates are required to fill up the online application form, which will be available at http://14.139.217.88/.
- An Application Number will be generated after the successful completion of the online application.
- Use the system-generated application number to pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs-500/- (plus applicable bank charges) in the SBI Collect Portal.
- The final Application Form will be generated 2-3 working days from the date of payment.
- The hardcopy of the Application Form, along with mark-sheets/grade-cards, certificates, synopsis and a copy of the Payment Receipt, must be sent/dropped to the following address:To The Secretary, Faculty Councils, Presidency University, 86/1, College Street, Kolkata-700073

Selection Procedure and Research Proposal
The selection process for the Presidency University PhD Admission 2025-26 (Even Semester) involves multiple stages, beginning with the submission of a research proposal. All applicants are mandated to submit a research proposal that is within 500 words.- Shortlisting: Departments, schools, or institutes may shortlist applicants based on the research proposals/area of availability of guide in the proposed research areas and other academic criteria.
- Test and Interview: All eligible candidates will have to appear at a test and interview / interview, conducted by the Departmental Ph.D. Selection Committees of the University following the UGC guidelines.
- Interview: During the interview, candidates will be expected to discuss their research interests.
- Final Admission: Following the selection procedure, a list of qualified candidates will be published and displayed by the University through the official website. Candidates selected for the Ph.D. Programme will be attached to the respective Department/ School/ Institute at the time of their provisional admission and will be required to enroll on payment of a non-refundable fee, determined by the University.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON RESERVATION:
The reservation policies of the West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2013 and West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2014 will be followed for admission in reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC A/OBC B/EWS/PWD, along with any extent orders as applicable at the time of admission. Candidates claiming such seats must submit a relevant Certificate issued by the Competent Authorities. If the certificate is found to be invalid during the interview or admission, the candidate will lose the reserve category opportunity and will be treated as General category.
PwD Reservation: Reservation in PWD seats will be available for “persons with benchmark disabilities,” which means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a specified disability. This includes various disabilities like Locomotor, Visual, Hearing, Speech & language, Intellectual disabilities, Mental illness, and disabilities caused due to chronic neurological conditions and blood disorder, as specified in the Schedule of RPWD Act, 2016. PWD certificates must be issued by the authorities specified in Order No. 289-HF/O/PHP/IR-05/2017 dated 29.08.2018 by the Government of West Bengal.
