The Inter‑University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi invites applications for its prestigious PhD programme 2026 in ion‑beam/accelerator based experimental research. This is an outstanding opportunity for aspiring researchers to work at a national accelerator facility while being registered under Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). A total of 11 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) seats are available across multiple categories.

The PhD programme focuses on experimental research using ion beams and accelerators. The core areas are:

• Bachelor’s level: Must have studied Physics and Mathematics in graduation.
• National eligibility test: Must have qualified CSIR‑UGC NET‑JRF (June 2024 onwards) in Physical Sciences or an equivalent national‑level test (JEST, etc.).
• Relaxation: As per UGC norms for reserved categories.

Shortlisting is based on the following stages:

1. Screening of applications based on NET‑JRF score and academic records.
2. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Written Test / Interview at IUAC, New Delhi.
3. Date and time will be communicated individually to shortlisted applicants.
4. Final selection depends on performance in the interview/written test.

Selected candidates must join within one week of result announcement.

• Registration: Selected students will be registered for PhD with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
• Coursework: Two semesters of coursework as per UGC norms are mandatory after joining.
• Hostel: Accommodation will be provided to all selected students.
• Fellowship: As per JRF norms (through NET‑JRF or equivalent).
• Relaxation: Normal relaxation to eligibility criteria applicable as per UGC guidelines.
