The number of vacancies in these subjects may change depending upon the recommendations of the respective Departmental Research Committees (DRCs).
- Candidates must possess at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in Master’s Degree in the concerned or allied subject.
- Candidates with one-year/two-semester Master’s Degree after four-year Bachelor’s Degree are also eligible as per prescribed conditions.
- Candidates holding M.Phil qualification with minimum required marks can also apply.
- Equivalent foreign qualifications recognized by approved accreditation agencies are acceptable.
- A relaxation of 5% marks is available for SC/ST/OBC/RBA/EWS (Non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled categories.
- Candidates qualified in UGC/CSIR-NET/JRF, SET/SLET, GATE, GPAT, CEED, ICAR-NET/JRF, ICMR-JRF or equivalent examinations are eligible.
University of Kashmir (UOK) PhD Admission 2026 (May) follows the provisions of UGC Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D Degrees Regulations 2022. Candidates are advised to carefully verify their subject eligibility before submission of the online application form.
Admission under University of Kashmir (UOK) PhD Admission 2026 (May) will be conducted through a priority-based system according to NET/JRF qualifications and interaction with Departmental Research Committees (DRCs).
Priority-I Candidates
Candidates qualified for award of JRF and Assistant Professor along with admission to Ph.D will be considered first.

Candidates qualified for Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D through NET will be considered if seats remain vacant.

Further vacant seats may be filled through candidates qualified for NET admission to Ph.D, GATE, SET/SLET and equivalent examinations as per university rules.
The eligibility and admission procedure for part-time Ph.D candidates will remain the same as full-time candidates. The following categories can apply for part-time Ph.D programmes:
- University teachers with at least two years of substantive service.
- Permanent scientists from nationally recognized institutions with at least four years of service.
- Government college teachers with at least four years of substantive service.
- Non-teaching university employees and State/Central Government employees with prescribed service duration.
- Visit the official University of Kashmir website.
- Go to the Admission section.
- Click on “Application Form for Research Programmes-2026 (Cycle-I, May-2026)”.
- Fill the online application form carefully.
- Upload qualification and required supporting documents.
- Pay the online application fee.
- Submit the form before the last date.
In-service candidates must upload documentary proof related to appointment date, department, and length of service while submitting the application form.
- The mention of a candidate’s name in the provisional selection list does not guarantee final admission.
- Admission is subject to eligibility verification and availability of supervisors.
- Selected candidates must complete document verification within the stipulated time.
- The waiting list and selection list will be notified by the concerned Dean of the School.
- NET score validity for Ph.D admission shall be one year from the date of issuance of NET certificate.
