- Candidates with a Master's Degree and at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade are eligible.
- A relaxation of 5% marks is available for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Differently-Abled, EWS and other categories as per UGC norms.
- Candidates applying after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor's Degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent grade.
- Students seeking admission into Ph.D. after a 4-year UG programme must have at least one publication in a peer-reviewed or refereed journal.
- Equivalent qualifications from approved foreign educational institutions are also eligible.

The University shall admit Ph.D. students in three phases:
- Phase 1: Candidates qualified through UGC-JRF, CSIR-JRF, ICAR, ICMR, DBT-JRF, AICTE Doctoral Fellowship and similar fellowships.
- Phase 2: Candidates qualified through UGC-NET/CSIR-NET either for Assistant Professor or Ph.D. admission.
- Phase 3: Remaining seats shall be filled through Research Entrance Test (RET).
For Phase 3 admissions, final selection is based on:
- 70% weightage to RET score.
- 30% weightage to Interview/Viva-Voce performance.
- RET shall consist of 50% Research Methodology questions.
- RET shall consist of 50% Subject-Specific questions.
- General category candidates must secure at least 50% marks in RET.
- Reserved category candidates must secure at least 45% marks in RET.
- Qualified candidates will appear for Interview/Viva-Voce.
