Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) PG PhD Admissions 2027 (January) has been announced for the January 2027 session. AcSIR is an Institution of National Importance offering research-oriented academic programmes through its network of associated research institutes across India.

For the January 2027 session, applications are invited for Ph.D. (Science), Ph.D. (Medical Research), Ph.D. (Engineering) and the Integrated Dual Degree Programme (IDDP) – M.Tech + Ph.D. in Engineering. Ph.D. (Science) includes Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Mathematical & Information Sciences.

AcSIR is an overarching academic institution encompassing prestigious research institutes, including institutes of CSIR, ICMR, DST and other associated research organisations. Candidates selected through the admission process undertake research at the concerned AcSIR-associated research institute.

AcSIR has announced the following major programmes for the January 2027 admission session:

The actual research areas, supervisors, institutes and available positions depend on the institute-wise requirements and vacancies for the January 2027 session.

Eligibility requirements vary according to the programme. Candidates should satisfy the prescribed academic qualification as well as the applicable entry/fellowship route.

General Academic Requirement

• The required qualifying degree must be from a recognised institution/university as prescribed for the concerned programme.
• The minimum percentage requirement varies according to the programme and qualifying degree.
• Relaxation in the minimum marks is applicable to eligible reserved categories as prescribed by AcSIR and Government of India rules.
• Candidates must also fulfil the specific fellowship, examination, project, institutional or sponsorship requirement applicable to the selected programme.

Candidates applying for the AcSIR Ph.D. (Science) programme must satisfy the prescribed academic and entry-route requirements.

Qualifying Degree

• A 2-year Master's degree in Science or equivalent after a 3-year Bachelor's degree, with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade; or
• A 4-year Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering with at least 75% marks or equivalent grade, wherever applicable.
• The applicable relaxation in marks for eligible reserved categories is as prescribed by AcSIR.

Major Entry Routes

• Candidates holding a valid national-level fellowship such as CSIR, ICMR, UGC, DBT, DST, INSPIRE, RGNF or other recognised equivalent fellowships may apply through the applicable route.
• Institutional fellowship routes are available at selected AcSIR-associated institutes.
• Eligible project staff working at AcSIR-associated research institutes may apply subject to the prescribed conditions and NOC requirements.
• Industry/institute-sponsored candidates may apply where the programme and institute permit the sponsored route.

The AcSIR Ph.D. (Engineering) programme is intended for candidates interested in advanced research in engineering and technology disciplines.

Qualifying Degree

• A 2-year Master's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade; or
• A 4-year B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree with at least 75% marks or equivalent grade, wherever applicable.

Applicable Entry Routes

• National-level fellowship holders may apply through the applicable fellowship route.
• Eligible self-sponsored candidates may be considered through applicable national-level examinations such as GATE/JEST, wherever prescribed.
• Institutional fellowship, project staff and sponsored candidate routes may be available at eligible institutes.

The AcSIR Ph.D. (Medical Research) programme is tenable only at the specified ICMR institutes, MAX-SMAIR and TIGS, subject to the availability of positions and applicable programme requirements.

Eligible Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (D.M.), Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch.), Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Master of Surgery (M.S.) from an NMC-recognised medical college.
• Master's degree in Science/Public Health with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
• Master's degree in Population Studies, Social Medicine, Community Health, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Work, Mathematical Sciences, Economics, Biostatistics or Demography with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
• MCA, M.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade, where applicable.
• MBBS, BDS or MDS from an NMC-recognised medical college with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade, as prescribed.

Candidates must also satisfy the programme-specific screening and admission requirements of the concerned institute.

AcSIR also offers the Integrated Dual Degree Programme (IDDP), leading to M.Tech + Ph.D. in Engineering.

Eligibility

• Candidates should have a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology with the prescribed minimum marks.
• Candidates applying through the CSIR-GATE/GPAT JRF route should satisfy the applicable fellowship and examination requirements.
• Industry-sponsored and institute-sponsored candidates may apply subject to the applicable conditions.
• Eligible reserved-category candidates may receive relaxation in the minimum marks as prescribed.

Fellowship Opportunity

The January 2027 admission notice highlights CSIR GATE/GPAT Junior Research Fellowship positions at CSIR institutes for eligible IDDP/Ph.D. candidates.
