AIIMS Guwahati started its broad-based full-time Ph.D. programme with the objective of promoting cutting-edge research in Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. The programme is designed to develop scientific capabilities among researchers through original and innovative research. Successful candidates will undertake full-time research and submit a thesis based on original work contributing to advancement of knowledge in their respective fields.

• Category A: Fellowship Available in Funded Project.
• Category C: Candidates with their Own Fellowship.

Separate merit lists will be prepared for Category A and Category C candidates.

Candidates holding valid fellowships from agencies such as CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT, INSPIRE or similar government agencies may apply under Category C.

• MBBS/BDS with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/MCh or equivalent qualification.
• Master's degree in AYUSH disciplines recognized by CCIM.
• Master's degree in Life Sciences and allied subjects from UGC approved universities.
• B.Tech (Biotechnology) and M.Tech (Biotechnology) candidates are eligible.
• M.Sc./M.A./M.Phil. in Psychology or Clinical Psychology are eligible where applicable.
• Non-medical candidates must have minimum 55% marks in the qualifying examination.
• Degrees obtained through distance learning mode are not eligible.

The application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

• Minimum duration: 3 Years.
• Maximum duration: 5 Years.
• Extension up to 6 months may be granted with approval.
• Further extension up to another 6 months may be permitted in exceptional circumstances.
• Failure to submit the thesis within the permitted duration may lead to cancellation of registration.
