The Central University of Gujarat (CUG) has officially released the PhD Admission Notification for the Academic Year 2025-26 (Phase-II). Inviting online applications from eligible candidates, this notification marks a significant opportunity for aspiring researchers. Established by an Act of Parliament of India (No. 25 of 2009), CUG offers diverse PhD programmes across multiple schools.

Eligible candidates who have completed their Master's Degree as per UGC Regulations 2022 and those qualified in national level tests like UGC-NET/CSIR-UGC-NET can apply. The admission process is entirely online through the SAMARTH eGov Portal. The University will conduct interviews for shortlisted candidates. The total number of vacancies for the PhD Programme is 106. Reservation of 5% seats for PwD candidates shall be done horizontally within the total intake as per Government of India Guidelines.

General Eligibility

• Candidates must have successfully completed their Master's Degree Programme as per the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022.
• Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET, CSIR-UGC-NET, or other similar national level tests (with valid NET score) are eligible to apply. This is as per UGC's communication F.4-1(UGC- NET Review Committee)/2024(NET)/140648 dated 28-March-2024.

1. Visit the official SAMARTH portal: https://cugadm.samarth.edu.in/.
2. Register and fill the online application form within the stipulated dates (30 Jan - 10 Feb 2026).
3. Pay the application fee online as per your category.
4. After successful submission, take a print-out of the application form.
5. Upload readable soft copies of all required documents (self-attested).
6. Carry the print-out along with original documents for verification when called.
