Introduction to Dibrugarh University PhD Admission 2025-26

The Office of the Registrar, Dibrugarh University, has released the Dibrugarh University PhD Admission 2025-26 notification for the Ph.D. programme for the session 2025-2026. Applications are invited from eligible candidates who have qualified the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT) 2025 or are exempted from the test. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking to pursue advanced research in a wide range of disciplines offered by the university. Eligibility & Exemption for Dibrugarh University PhD Admission 2025-26

Intending candidates must comply with the eligibility criteria prescribed in Clause 12 (A) and 12 (B) of the Dibrugarh University Regulations for the Research Council and for the Degree of Ph.D., 2023.

DURAT 2025 Appeared Candidates

To be eligible to apply for Dibrugarh University PhD Admission 2025-26, candidates who appeared in DURAT 2025 must meet the following qualifying marks in the Written Test (Phase 1):

  • General Category: 50%
  • Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS): 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks.

DURAT Exempted Candidates

DURAT is exempted for candidates falling under the following categories, making them eligible to apply directly for the Ph.D. program:

  1. Candidates who have qualified the CSIR/UGC NET/GATE.
  2. Candidates who have research fellowship from National level Government/Semi Government funding agencies.
  3. Candidates who have passed the M.Phil. programme (in regular mode and in the concerned subject).

Application Process for Dibrugarh University PhD Admission 2025-26

Online Application Fee

The Application Fee for all candidates is Rs. 950/- only, payable online through Debit (ATM) Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking/UPI. No other mode of payment is acceptable.

A. For DURAT 2025 Appeared Candidates

  1. Log in to the Admission Portal at https://dibru.ac.in using the same Mobile Number and Password used during the DURAT 2025 application.
  2. Click on the “Apply” button for “Ph.D. Admission”.
  3. Fill up the online form, click “Submit”, and make the payment of Rs. 950/-.
  4. Submit the Print Copy of the application along with the self-attested documents (HSLC to Master’s Certificates/Mark Sheets, DURAT 2025 score card, Caste/PWD/EWS Certificate if applicable, and No Objection Certificate if employed) at the Office of the Department/Centre of Studies where applying for the Ph.D. Programme.

B. For DURAT Exempted Candidates

  1. Register on the Online Application Portal at https://dibru.ac.in by entering Full Name, Password, and a Mobile Number.
  2. Activate the account using the OTP received on the mobile number.
  3. Login using the Mobile Number and Password.
  4. Pay the Application Fee of Rs. 950/- through the online payment gateway.
  5. Take a print out of the Payment Receipt and Application Form.
  6. Submit the Print-Copy of the application along with the self-attested documents (Award Letter for CSIR/UGC NET/GATE/Fellowship OR M.Phil. Pass Certificate and Marksheet, HSLC to Master’s Certificates/Mark Sheets, Caste/PWD/EWS Certificate if applicable, and No Objection Certificate if employed) at the Office of the Department/Centre of Studies concerned.

Admission Procedure and Viva-Voce

The final selection for the Dibrugarh University PhD Admission 2025-26 will be based on a Viva-Voce Examination conducted by the concerned Department/Centre of Studies.

Viva-Voce Weightage

  • For DURAT 2025 qualified candidates: The Viva-Voce carries 30% weightage.
  • For DURAT Exempted candidates: The Viva-Voce carries 100% weightage.

The concerned Department/Centre of Studies shall publish the lists of Short-Listed Candidates prepared on the basis of the DURAT, 2025 performance, and these candidates will be eligible for the Viva-Voce. After the Viva-Voce, the Final Merit Lists for admission will be prepared and notified on the University website: www.dibru.ac.in.

The candidates selected for admission must deposit the Admission and Course Fee as follows:

Important Information

  • The Statutory Reservation Policy shall be followed in admission to the Ph.D. Programme (wherever applicable).
  • Candidates are advised to visit the University website www.dibru.ac.in regularly for the lists of short-listed candidates, dates for admission, and any other relevant information.
  • Failure to submit the hard copies of the application and documents by the last date (03.11.2025) will result in the application not being considered.
