Introduction: Guru Jambheshwar University Moradabad PhD Admission 2025

Applications are being invited for the Research Entrance Test (RET-2025) for admission to the Ph.D. (Regular/Part-time) programme in various subjects for the academic session 2025-26. The admission process to the Ph.D. programme in various departments of affiliated colleges shall be governed by the latest UGC, Ph.D. Ordinance-2020 of MJPRU, Bareilly, and U.P. Government Rules and Regulations. The date of the examination for RET-2025 is 30.10.2025.

Application Procedure for Research Entrance Test (RET-2025)

  1. Step-1 (Download Form): Download the application form for RET-2025 from the University website: https://gjum.ac.in/download and get its print out.
  2. Step-2 (Fill & Attach): Fill up all the details mentioned in the application form and attach the supporting documents with it.
  3. Step-3 (Pay Fee): Pay the application fee online through https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect. During the payment process, enter ‘Guru Jambheshwar University, Moradabad’ in the ‘Search’ TAB. Required details include Student’s Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Mode of Ph.D., Category, Subject, Mobile No., Retype Mobile No., and Email ID. After payment, download and print the fee receipt.
  4. Step-4 (Submission): The duly filled application form, along with all necessary self-attested documents and the fee receipt, must be submitted by hand at the University Campus or must reach by registered/speed post to the Registrar’s address on or before 18.10.2025. Applicants must also mention their subject and category on the sealed envelope.

Eligibility Criteria and RET Structure for Guru Jambheshwar University Moradabad PhD Admission 2025

A. Minimum Academic Qualifications

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate, or an equivalent grade (“B” grade on the UGC 7-point scale).
  • A relaxation of 5% (i.e., to 50%) in minimum qualifying marks is granted to candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled, and other categories as per State Government/University decision, or those who completed their Master’s degree before 19th September 1991.
  • Degrees from foreign institutions must be from universities recognized by an appropriate Assessment and Accreditation Agency as approved by the University.
  • Candidates appearing/appeared in the final semester/year of their postgraduate examination are eligible to apply, provided they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in their final result.

B. Duration of the Programme

  • Regular Mode: Minimum Duration is 3 years (36 months), including 6 months of course work.
  • Part-time Mode: Minimum Duration is 4 years (48 months), including 6 months of course work.

C. RET Examination Structure

The RET syllabus will generally be the same as the UGC/CSIR NET for most disciplines, and the University prescribed PG syllabus for disciplines where NET is not conducted.

D. Qualifying Marks

  • General Category: 50% (combined score)
  • Reserved Categories: 45% (combined score)

Interview and Selection Note

Shortlisted candidates based on RET-2025 performance and candidates exempted from RET will be called for the interview. The Research Degree Committee (RDC)/interview committee reserves the right not to fill all advertised vacancies if suitable candidates are not found.

Exemption from Research Entrance Test (RET-2025)

The following categories are exempted from appearing in the RET-2025 and are eligible to appear directly for the interview:

  1. National Eligibility Holders (A): Candidates who have qualified JRF/CSIR/JEST/GPAT/GATE/NET, Equivalent National or International Research Fellowships, or U.P. SLET (Uttar Pradesh State Lecturer Eligibility Test).
  2. University and Government-Aided College Faculty (B): Permanent Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors appointed on substantive posts in the teaching departments of Guru Jambheshwar University or its affiliated government and Government-aided colleges, provided they have successfully completed their probation period and possess a minimum of two years of uninterrupted service. Note: Teachers employed in self-financed/private colleges are not eligible for exemption.
  3. Senior Armed Forces Personnel (C): Serving officers from the Army, Navy, or Air Force holding the rank of Colonel or equivalent and above with a minimum of 15 years of service, if applying for Ph.D. in Defence and Strategic Studies.

Mandatory Note for Exempted Candidates: All exempted candidates must submit the application form and pay the prescribed fee, as applicable to regular RET applicants. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.

General Instructions

  • Eligibility Compliance: Candidates must ensure they fulfil all eligibility criteria and adhere to the guidelines set by GJUM time to time, as admission is strictly subject to verification of eligibility at each stage of the process.

  • NOC for Employed Candidates: Candidates employed in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Government departments, or Autonomous bodies must submit their application through the proper channel or present a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of the interview, if shortlisted or selected.
