Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) PhD Admission 2026 (June) notification has been released by Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla for admission to various PhD programmes offered in Regular and Part-Time modes. Eligible candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR-JRF, NET, GATE or equivalent examinations can apply online within the prescribed dates. The admission process will be conducted according to H.P. University PhD Regulations 2025 (Revised) and the Part-Time PhD Program Addendum 2026.

Regular PhD Program

• Applicants should have qualified CSIR-UGC JRF or equivalent examination.
• GATE qualified candidates are eligible.
• NET qualified candidates under Assistant Professor and PhD admission categories are eligible.

Part-Time PhD Program

• Intended for working teachers, professionals, researchers and academic enthusiasts.
• Applicants must be working in recognized institutions, departments, organizations or reputed industries.

Master's Degree Holders

• One-year/two-semester Master's degree after a four-year Bachelor's degree.
• Two-year/four-semester Master's degree after a three-year Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
• Equivalent foreign qualifications are also accepted as per regulations.

Relaxation

• 5% relaxation for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwD, EWS and other categories as per University and UGC norms.

MPhil Degree Holders

• Candidates with MPhil and minimum 55% marks are eligible as per HPU PhD Regulations 2025 (Revised).
• Applicable relaxation is available for reserved categories.

Centre for Green Energy and Nanotechnology Eligibility

Candidates with Master's degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and related disciplines may apply subject to suitability determined by the Standing Committee.

Himachal Pradesh University will conduct a separate selection procedure for international students in accordance with guidelines and norms issued by the concerned statutory and regulatory bodies from time to time.

Admission under the Regular PhD mode shall be based on the combined merit of NET score and interview performance.
