IISER Berhampur PhD Admission 2027 (January) is open for the Ph.D. programme starting from January 2027 under Semester-II of Academic Year 2026-27. The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Berhampur has invited applications from highly motivated students for admission to its Ph.D. programmes.

Candidates applying for IISER Berhampur PhD Admission 2027 must satisfy the eligibility requirements mentioned in the admission advertisement.
- M.Sc./MCA/M.Tech. degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale.
- The percentage or CGPA/CPI requirement applies to the overall qualification and not only to the majoring subject.
- A relaxation of 5% marks, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, is allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories.
Candidates who are appearing or are about to appear for the final examinations of the qualifying degree programme may also apply. However, final selection is subject to successful completion of the qualifying degree with the required eligibility conditions at the time of admission.
A provisional degree certificate is mandatory at the time of admission.
The advertisement specifies how marks, grades, CGPA and CPI will be considered depending on the format reported by the Institute or University.
- If only marks or percentages are reported, only marks or percentages will be considered.
- If only grades, CGPA or CPI are reported, CGPA/CPI will be considered.
- If CGPA/CPI is reported on a scale other than 10, an equivalent CGPA/CPI will be calculated using the formula:
CGPA/CPI in a 10-point scale = (CGPA/CPI Obtained × 10) / PS
Here, PS means the point scale used by the Institute or University.
- If both marks and CGPA/CPI are reported and absolute grading is followed, the percentage equivalent of CGPA/CPI indicated on the transcript or grade sheet will be considered.
- If relative grading is followed, CGPA/CPI only will be considered.
In addition to the qualifying degree requirement, a valid national-level examination score or fellowship mentioned in the advertisement is mandatory.

- B.Tech/B.E./B.S. or equivalent degree from a Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI) at the time of application with CGPA/CPI of at least 8.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent.
- Exceptionally brilliant candidates with MBBS may also apply for Ph.D. programmes.
- Students with CGPA of 8.0 or above in a BS-MS dual degree from any of the IISERs are eligible to apply without the essential eligibility criteria listed above.

Candidates admitted to the regular Ph.D. Programme will be eligible for financial assistance as per the norms of IISER Berhampur or the applicable external funding agency.
