The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has officially released the admission notification for the academic year 2026-27 for its wide range of UG, PG, and PhD programmes. The session is set to commence in August 2026. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for Research Programmes (PhD/M.Tech Research), External Registration Programme (ERP), Course Programmes in Engineering (M.Tech/M.Des/M.Mgt), Course Programmes in Science (M.Sc), Integrated PhD programmes, Four-year BS (Research), and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes.
Prospective applicants must carefully review the detailed eligibility criteria, specializations, selection procedures, and important dates provided on the official IISc website. Candidates in their final semester/year of qualifying exams who expect to complete all degree requirements by 31 July 2026 are eligible to apply, provided they can submit necessary certificates by 31 October 2026.

NET JRF includes CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, UGC-NET for JRF, DBT JRF, ICMR JRF, JEST, NBHM, INSPIRE. The certificate/score must be valid as on 01 August 2026.
ERP is designed for professionals from R&D organizations/industries and faculty members from recognized institutions. Candidates must have completed two years of full-time employment as on 1st August 2026 and be officially sponsored by their employer.
Qualifying in national entrance tests (GATE, NET JRF, etc.) is desirable but not mandatory. The application deadline for ERP is 31st March 2026.
Includes M.Tech, M.Des, M.Mgt, Joint M.Tech, and 1-year M.Engg programmes. Selection is based on GATE score, interview, written test, or Career Analysis Marks (CAM) for CFTI graduates.

M.Sc programmes are offered in Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Physics. Eligibility requires a first-class Bachelor’s degree in relevant subjects with JAM/GATE/JEST scores.

Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 2024, 2025, or 2026 with first class/60% marks (pass class for SC/ST).
Selection: For Indian Nationals/OCI (I) through JEE Advanced 2026 or IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026. For Foreign Nationals/OCI (F) through SAT/ACT or IAT/JEE Advanced.
Admissions are through JoSAA 2026. No separate IISc application is required. New programmes launched from 2026-27 include Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanics & Computing, and Aerospace Engineering.

B.Tech admissions are solely through JoSAA 2026.
Note: Applicants must update their score/rank details within 3 days after result declaration if applied earlier. EWS/OBC-NCL certificates must be valid for FY 2026-27 (issued on or after 1 April 2026).
