Candidates who have qualified in any of the following national-level tests/fellowships are eligible to apply for the PhD programme in regular mode, provided they also meet the degree requirements listed below.

1. Category 1: National level fellowship/scholarship (JRF conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICMR/ICSSR/ICAR/INSPIRE/GATE, etc.).
2. Category 2: National Eligibility Test (NET) for Assistant Professor and admission to PhD conducted by UGC/CSIR.
3. Category 3: National Eligibility Test (NET) in the category for admission to PhD programme only.

Degree Eligibility:

Option A: Candidates must have completed a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree after a 3-year bachelor’s degree OR a 1-year/2-semester master’s degree after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme (or an equivalent qualification) with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or an equivalent grade).

Option B: Equivalent qualification from a recognized foreign educational institution.

Candidates with an M.Phil. degree with at least 55% marks are also eligible. In-service candidates must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and Relieve Order from their employer at the time of registration.

Appearing for the interview/viva-voce conducted by the concerned department is mandatory. Candidates must submit a broad research outline during document verification on the interview day. The selection mode varies:

• For JRF/NET (LS) qualifiers before 2024: Selection based solely on personal interview.
• For national level fellowship/scholarship qualifiers (UGC-NET, GATE, etc.): Selection based on interview only.
• For candidates qualifying UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/GATE etc. in 2024 or later: Selection is based on 70% weightage for the national test score and 30% for the interview performance.

Reservation of seats under different categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD) shall be made as per the prevailing Odisha State Government norms.

A minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory during the coursework period to become eligible for the coursework examinations. All classes will be conducted in physical mode.
