Eligibility for Admission to PhD Program

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

The following are eligible to seek admission to the PhD program:

1. Candidates who have completed:

A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree program in the concerned/allied subject after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program in the concerned/allied subject after a 3-year bachelor’s degree program or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

1.1 A relaxation of 5% i.e. from 55% to 50% or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/BC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates of the Haryana State only.

2. Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution.

2.1 A relaxation of 5% i.e. from 55% to 50% or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/BC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates of the Haryana State only.

Procedure for Admission

Admission of NET qualified candidates

The PhD seats will be first offered to the candidates in the following order of preference:

1. Category-1 NET qualified candidates (Eligible for Award of JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD admissions) based on their performance in the interview.
2. Category-2 NET qualified candidates (Eligible for Assistant Professor and PhD admissions)
3. Category-3 NET qualified candidates (Eligible for PhD admissions based on minimum 40% marks in the NET examination or as prescribed by the University, whichever is higher)

INTERVIEW

The candidates will be given admission to PhD program based on their performance in the interview by the interview board. The interview shall be of 30 Marks:

• 15 marks for domain knowledge
• 10 marks for research aptitude
• 5 marks for research accomplishment

FOR ADMISSION THROUGH ENTRANCE TEST

In subjects (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food Technology, IHTM and Engineering etc.) where NET examination is not conducted by the UGC, an entrance test will be conducted.

• Entrance Test will be of 100 marks of 100 questions
• Minimum qualifying marks: 50% (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates of Haryana State)
• Negative marking: 0.25 marks deduction for each wrong answer
• Syllabus: 50% Research Methodology and 50% subject specific
• Selection: 70% weightage for entrance test and 30% for interview

How to Apply for Admission to PhD

1. The candidates are advised to read the Prospectus carefully before filling the online Application Form. Incomplete application forms shall summarily be rejected.
2. The processing fee of the application for admission will be charged as Rs.1600/- for General Category candidates and Rs.400/- (for SC/DSC/BC/Differently abled candidates of Haryana only).
3. A Candidate may apply for admission to as many programs as he/she wants. Separate application form for admission to each additional program shall be required to be filled after paying Rs. 400/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/DSC/BC/Differently abled candidates of Haryana only) per program.
4. The candidates will be required to deposit application fee through online payment process only (Net Banking/Debit Card).
5. The scanned copy of certificates/testimonials of all the examinations passed by the candidate from Matriculation onwards/other documents including certificates for claiming reservation and latest Character Certificate should be uploaded while filling online application form.

7. Latest income certificate issued by the competent authority of the Haryana Govt. on or after 01.04.2025, wherever applicable.
