Eligibility Criteria for University of North Bengal (NBU) PhD Admission 2026
  • Applicants must have a 2-year Master's Degree after a 4-year Bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks.
  • Candidates with 1-year Master's Degree after a 4-year Bachelor's degree are also eligible.
  • Candidates applying after a 4-year Bachelor's degree must have 75% marks.
  • A 5% relaxation in marks is allowed for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS and Differently Abled candidates.
  • Candidates completing a 3-year Bachelor's degree with a 2-year Master's programme are also eligible.

Selection Process
  • Admission will follow UGC Regulations 2022.
  • Candidates with NET-JRF / NET / SET / SLET / GATE / M.Phil / Teachers Fellowship will appear directly for interview.
  • Other candidates must appear for a written test.
  • The written test will carry 100 marks and will be conducted in MCQ format.
  • The duration of the written test will be 2 hours.
  • Candidates securing minimum 50% marks in the written test will be called for the interview.
  • The final merit list will be published department-wise.

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Only online applications will be accepted.
  • Applications submitted after the last date will not be accepted.
