Introduction

The NIT Andhra Pradesh PhD Admission 2025-26 Notification Out for the Even Semester of the Academic Year 2025-26. The National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh (राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान आंध्र प्रदेश) Tadepalligudem is an Institute of National Importance established in the A.Y. 2015 and is fully funded by the Ministry of Education Government of India. The Institute is inviting applications for its Ph.D. Programme across various disciplines including Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, and Management. This extensive Ph.D. program is offered in: Bio-Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering and in the School of Sciences (Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry Divisions) and School of Humanities and Management (English/Management).

The institute supports its Ph.D. scholars with substantial incentives including up to Rs. 2 lakhs to attend any domestic or international conference and up to Rs. 15000/- per financial year for travelling allowances to attend scientific events/workshops/paper presentations/research and knowledge-oriented development programmes. Furthermore the Institute highlights its research with over 800 publications in journals (462 Sci/Scopus) 293 conferences 17000+ citations 21 published patents and 28+ sponsored projects worth Rs. 14.4 Cr. Admission Categories Terms and Conditions of Ph.D. Program

1.Full time – Institute Assistantship CategoryFinancial Assistance is offered through Institute Assistantship from NIT ANP up to maximum 05 years from the date of initial registration.
2.Full Time – Project CategoryFinancial Assistance is offered by an externally sponsored project executed at NIT ANP up to closure of such project or fund availability whichever is earlier.
3.Full Time – Sponsored CategoryFinancial Assistance should be offered by an Externally sponsored Agency obtained by the candidate prior to seeking admission at NIT ANP. Up to maximum tenure specified by such sponsoring agency or fund availability whichever is earlier.
4.Part-time – Sponsored CategoryNo Financial Assistance is offered by the institute. The candidate must be an employee sponsored by the current serving private/semi-government/government institute/organization/industry. A mutual agreement is essential for Bonafide services for at least 02 years at the time of registration in case of a private entity.

Minimum Eligibility & Tenure for NIT Andhra Pradesh PhD Admission 2025-26

Minimum Academic Requirement: The CGPA or percentage acquired in the preceding degree should be at least 60% or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale. A relaxation of 5% or 0.5 CGPA is granted for SC/ST/PWD candidates on this minimum limit.

Important Notes for Ph.D. Admission

Note: The Departmental Academic Committee Post Graduation & Research (DAC-PG&R) has the right to either consider or reject any application(s) restricting to specific qualification/specialization/branch of study at the level of graduation/post-graduation prior to the scrutiny process.

  • Candidates seeking admission under Full-time Institute Assistantship Category with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering & Technology from any central government funded institutions should be in a relevant discipline.
  • The institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for the written test and/or interview to a reasonable limit based on parameters higher than those prescribed in the advertisement. These parameters include:
    • Qualification in National level examination conducted by Central Government Agencies.
    • Academic Qualification/Degree achieved.
    • Slots available under faculty in each department.
    • Requirement of specialization to each department.
    • In-house ongoing sponsored projects.
    • Possessing quality of journals by the applicant.

Selection Procedure

  • Candidates who do not have a qualified GATE/NET/National level examination must appear for a written examination conducted by NIT ANP before attending the interview.
  • The qualifying mark for the examination shall be 60% of the highest obtained marks in the paper (or) 40% of the maximum marks in the paper whichever is higher.
  • For SC/ST/PwD candidates the qualifying mark shall be 55% of the highest obtained marks in the paper (or) 35% of the maximum marks in the paper whichever is higher.
  • Only the qualified candidates in this examination along with shortlisted candidates who possess qualified GATE/NET/etc. will be allowed for the interview.
  • The modalities/syllabus of the examination will be intimated separately on the institute website.
  • The departments/sections/divisions will set their individual criteria whether to conduct the national level examination hosted by the institute based on the number of applications received from candidates possessing GATE/NET etc. qualification and available Ph.D. seats.

Checklist of Documents to be Uploaded along with the Application

  1. SSC/Class X certificate in support of Date of Birth.
  2. Intermediate/10+2/Class XII certificate.
  3. Provisional certificate/Original Degree certificates and Marks Memos of the qualifying examinations.
  4. For GEN-EWS candidates EWS certificate issued on or after 01st April 2025 as per the format given in Annexure-I only is acceptable.
  5. Cast certificate (in case of SC/ST candidates).
  6. For OBC-NCL candidates the OBC-NCL certificate issued on or after 01st April 2025 as per the format given in Annexure-II only is acceptable.
  7. No Objection Certificate from the employer issued on or after 01-04-2025 only is acceptable (Annexure-III) for candidates employed and wishing to do Ph.D. under part-time.
  8. Photograph on application form.
  9. Any other documents (list of publications if any).

Financial Support and Incentives

  • Financial support is initially granted for one year and is subject to annual renewal based on satisfactory performance and progress.
  • Candidates with external fellowships (e.g. CSIR-NET UGC-NET DST-INSPIRE RGNF ICSSR Women Scientist etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply. The selection process remains the same.
  • All students regardless of fellowship status must assist faculty members in teaching and research activities including tutorials laboratory sessions student projects or R&D tasks as assigned.
  • Students with external fellowships (e.g. NET-JRF CSIR DST-INSPIRE) and project fellows may receive HRA subject to their funding agency’s provisions. Full-time students with Institute fellowship are eligible for HRA only under special circumstances as per institute norms.

Additional Incentives to Ph.D. Scholars

  • Supporting up to Rs. 2 lakhs to Ph.D. scholars to attend any conference both domestic and international.
  • Supporting travelling allowances up to Rs. 15000/- per financial year to attend the scientific events/Workshops/Paper presentation/Research and Knowledge oriented development programmes.

  • Candidates must fill in the application form and attach all supporting documents.
  • A separate application form must be submitted for each program/department/school/division for each category.
  • There is no application fee.

  • NIT Andhra Pradesh is a fully residential institute. All full-time Ph.D. scholars must stay in the institute’s Halls of Residence and no HRA will be provided for Institute Fellows.
