The university invites applications for admission to the Ph.D. programme through two streams: NET‑based (50% seats) and PAT‑based / exempted (50% seats). Aspiring candidates can apply online via the Samarth Portal from 10th February 2026 to 24th February 2026.
Eligibility includes a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (5% relaxation for reserved categories). Candidates with a 4‑year bachelor’s degree need 75% marks. The selection combines normalized NET scores, interview performance, PG percentage, and experience marks as detailed below. All admissions are strictly subject to Bihar State Reservation Rules and roster positions.

- 5% relaxation (55% → 50%) for SC/ST/EBC/BC (Non‑Creamy Layer) / Differently‑abled candidates as per State/University rules.
- 4‑year/8‑semester Bachelor’s degree holders: minimum 75% aggregate or equivalent grade.
- NET‑based stream: Valid NET/CSIR‑NET/GATE or other national exam accepted by UGC. Score must be supported by valid score card.
- Exempted categories (PAT‑exempted):
- M.Phil degree with ≥55% marks.
- Permanent Teaching employees (≥2 years experience) & Non‑teaching staff (≥5 years experience) + two research papers in UGC‑listed journals. (Must appear for interview)
- Appearing candidates in Master’s programme are not eligible for Ph.D. Admission Test.
Stream‑A (First 50% vacant seats) – exclusively for NET/CSIR‑NET/GATE/BET qualified candidates.

🔹 Stream‑A : NET/GATE/BET (70% NET + 30% Interview)
- Category‑1 (NET‑JRF + Assistant Prof. + Ph.D. admission): selection based on 100‑marks interview only.
- Category‑2 & 3 (Assistant Prof. + Ph.D. / Ph.D. only): selection on Final Score = (Normalized NET Score × 0.70) + (Interview marks × 0.30).
- NET normalization: University converts NET score to 100‑point scale = NET score / 3.
🔸 Stream‑B : PAT / Exempted (PG Score + PAT/Experience + Interview)
- PAT‑qualified candidates: 5 marks allotted.
- M.Phil (≥55%): No PAT marks, no employment score; only PG score + interview (20 marks).
- Permanent Teaching/Non‑teaching staff: 10 marks for experience (≥3 years) + 2 UGC‑listed papers.
(Teaching: ≥2 years exp; Non‑teaching: ≥5 years exp) - Total 100 marks = PG Score (converted from PG %) + [PAT(5) or Exp(10)] + Interview(20).

📌 Note for previous PAT applicants (2024/2025):
- Candidates who applied for PAT‑2024 (Ref. No. PUP (14/24 DR Acad)-R/24-1327, 18.12.2024) need not pay fee again for Ph.D. 2024, but must submit a fresh online application for PAT‑2024.
- For Ph.D. Admission 2025, such candidates must apply afresh and pay prescribed fee for PAT‑2025.
- Applying for both 2024 & 2025 requires separate fee payment for each year.
For PhD Admission 2026, all candidates (including previous applicants) must pay the fee as per table above.
