Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU) PhD Admission 2026 notification has been released. Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the PhD Programme in various subjects for the Academic Session 2025-26. Admissions are open only for candidates qualified in UGC-NET/JRF or those eligible under the “PhD only” category as per UGC regulations.
The application process is completely online, and candidates must apply well in advance via the university’s ERP portal. The PhD programmes are offered in Law, Management, Economics, Political Science, History, and Sociology.

Application Fee:

Admission to the PhD Programme at HPNLU shall be based on the candidate’s UGC-NET/JRF/PhD only score. A merit list will be prepared based on the UGC-NET score, followed by a screening presentation of the submitted research proposal before the University Committee, as per UGC guidelines (Letter No. F.4-1(UGC-NET Review Committee)/2024(NET)/140648 dated 27th March, 2024).
All admitted PhD scholars must complete mandatory coursework within the prescribed time as per UGC Regulations, 2022, and HPNLU Regulations. Coursework exemption will not be granted under any circumstances.
Not more than 20% of seats are offered for part-time candidates, subject to the following conditions:
- The applicant must be in full-time regular employment.
- A “No Objection Certificate” from the employer is mandatory, stating permission for part-time study, availability of time for research, and willingness to relieve the candidate for coursework if required.
- The scholar must complete the prescribed coursework successfully.
- The maximum duration will be as per the UGC Regulations adopted by the University.
