Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) PhD Admission 2026 (July) notification has been released for admission to Ph.D. programmes for the Odd Semester of Academic Session 2026-27. RGIPT is an Institution of National Importance established by the Government of India and offers doctoral research opportunities across Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, Management Studies and interdisciplinary areas related to petroleum and energy.

The institute has campuses at Jais (Uttar Pradesh), Bengaluru and Sivasagar (Assam). PhD scholars can pursue advanced research with access to state-of-the-art laboratories, industry-linked fellowships and opportunities to work under the co-supervision of industry experts.

Programme Minimum Eligibility
PhD in Engineering Master's Degree in Engineering with 60% marks/6.0 CPI OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 75% marks/7.5 CPI.
PhD in Sciences Master's Degree in Science with 60% marks/6.0 CPI OR Four-Year Bachelor's Degree in Science with 75% marks/7.5 CPI.
PhD in Humanities Master's Degree in Engineering/Science/Humanities with 60% marks or Bachelor's Degree (4-Year) with 75% marks.
PhD in Management Studies Master's Degree in Management or allied discipline with 60% marks OR CA/ICWA/CS with required qualifications.

A relaxation of up to 5% marks or 0.5 CPI may be considered for professionals having at least two years of industry experience.

Fellowship & Financial Assistance

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) ₹37,000 per month
JRF (RGIPT Sponsored Project) ₹18,500 per month
CIF Teaching Assistantship Additional ₹18,500 per month (subject to selection)
Total Potential Support ₹37,000 per month

Eligible scholars may also receive benefits under ICRGI, HPRGI, CPRGI and BPRGI PhD Research Fellowship schemes with an additional 25% supplementary stipend along with applicable benefits.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for Full Time Regular Registration Category is 28 years as on admission into fellowship. Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules.
