Eligibility Criteria for Sardar Patel University (SPU) PhD Admission 2025-26
Candidates must fulfill the following criteria for admission to the Sardar Patel University (SPU) PhD Admission 2025-26 Programme:
- Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body.
- A minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC-7 point scale (or equivalent grade) is required in the Master’s degree.
- An equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an approved Assessment and Accreditation Agency is also accepted.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks (from 55% to 50%) or an equivalent relaxation of grade is allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/Differently-abled and other categories as per University decisions, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991.

Application Process and Selection Preference
Application Submission:
- The application form is available on the official website of Sardar Patel University, Mandi (www.spumandi.ac.in).
- The completed form, along with the required documents, should be submitted on or before 15.12.2025.
- The form must be submitted directly by post to the respective Heads of Department of SPU Mandi.
Selection Preference (Direct Admission):
- First Preference: Shall be given to CSIR/UGC NET/ (JRF) and other equivalent fellowship holder candidates through National Level Test agencies. The merit list will be drawn based on 70% weightage to the score detained in the Nationalised test and 30% weightage given to the interview.
- Second Preference: For the remaining seats, if available after the first preference, admission shall be made among other fellowship holders like NFSC, NFST, Maulana, etc.
Important Notes for Applicants
- Change of Category: The request for a change of category once opted/filled in the application form after the last date of application will not be entertained under any circumstances.
- Specialization: Details regarding specialization can be obtained from the concerned teaching Department(s).
- INSPIRE JRF: For Direct Admission under the INSPIRE scheme, the candidate(s) must be an INSPIRE JRF with the final (JRF) award letter.
- Degree Certificate: The applicant is required to submit their degree completion certificate at the time of counseling/interview.
