Sardar Patel University PhD Admission: Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC).
- Qualified through UGC-NET-JRF/CSIR-NET-JRF/NET-L/NET-Ph.D. Admission/GSLET/GATE for Ph.D./JEST (SERB)/ICAR for Ph.D./DBT/GPAT for Ph.D./INSPIRE Teacher Fellowship as per UGC rules.
- Eligibility validity: As per the validity of the respective examination or one year/two admission cycles, whichever is earlier (Clause R.Ph.D. 4.5.2.8(a)).
Sardar Patel University PhD Admission: Application Process
- Fill online application form at www.spuvvn.edu/studentscorner/admissions/Ph.D from 01/01/2026 to 10/01/2026.
- For SPU and OUG categories: Submit printout with documents in person at Room 118, Academic Section, SPU, by 12/01/2026, 4:00 PM.
- For OTG category: Send printout with self-attested documents by post to Registrar, Academic Section, SPU, to reach by 13/01/2026, 4:00 PM. Envelope must mention “Ph.D. Admission Form for the Academic Year 2025–2026 (Second Session) – OTG”.
- Application fee: Rs. 300/- for candidates with qualifying fellowships/exams.
- Incomplete forms or late submissions will be rejected.

Sardar Patel University PhD Admission: General Guidelines
- Check eligibility and subject availability before applying.
- Application fee is non-refundable.
- SPU and OUG candidates must submit forms in person; OTG by post.
- Late or defective applications will be rejected.
- Retain photocopy of application form and fee receipt.
- University reserves right to change subjects without notice.
- Canvassing will disqualify candidate.
- Present research proposal and original documents at counseling.
- Part-time candidates must submit No Objection Certificate (NOC) from employer.
- Complete Ph.D. coursework as per university rules.
- No simultaneous registration for other courses.
- Decision of Vice-Chancellor is final.
Important Notes
Note 1: As per Rules and Regulations for Ph.D. Programme September 2024, Clause R.Ph.D. 4.5.2.8 (a), the eligibility of a candidate who qualifies the entrance test is valid for one year or two admission cycles, whichever is earlier.
Note 2: Students will be registered for Ph.D. Programme only after successful completion of Ph.D. coursework.
Note 3: 80% attendance in each coursework is compulsory; less than 80% leads to cancellation of provisional admission.
Note 4: For OTG category, write on envelope: “Ph.D. Admission Form for the Academic Year 2025–2026 (Second Session) – OTG”.
