Saurashtra University has announced the Saurashtra University PhD Admission 2025-26 (Second Round) for the academic year 2025-26. This admission round is for seats vacant after the first round and for specific subjects like Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Statistics where the UGC NET for Ph.D. admission eligibility is not conducted. Subject-wise Vacant Seats for Saurashtra University PhD Admission 2025-26 (Online Registration Not Required)
Candidates who had registered and completed verification in the first round for these subjects but were not admitted are not required to register online again. They only need to appear before the DRC. These candidates must stay in regular contact with the concerned department’s website for the DRC schedule. Eligibility Criteria for Saurashtra University PhD Admission 2025-26
- Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (M.A., M.B.A., M.Com., M.Sc., M.Ed., M.R.S., M.LIB., M.C.A., M.S.W., M.P.Ed., M.P.A., etc.).
- General Category candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks (excluding grace).
- Candidates belonging to SC, ST, SEBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Physically Handicapped (PH), and EWS categories must have a minimum of 50% marks (excluding grace).
- Candidates must appear for the Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) in the subject in which they have completed their Post-Graduate examination. If an applicant holds a Post-Graduate degree in more than one subject, they can appear for the PET in only one subject of their choice.
Application & Registration Process for Saurashtra University PhD Admission 2025-26
Online Registration
The online portal for registration will be open from November 20, 2025 (11:00 AM) to November 30, 2025 (11:59 PM). Candidates who have not registered online on the Saurashtra University portal will not be eligible for Ph.D. admission.
Registration is Compulsory for:
- Ph.D. Entrance Test Category: Candidates applying for vacant seats or for Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Statistics must register online. The application fee is ₹800/- (non-refundable).
- Ph.D. Non-Entrance Test Category: Students who have qualified UGC NET-June & December-2024, NET-June-2025, and GSET-December-2024 and have NOT registered in the first round must register online. These candidates are exempt from the Ph.D. Entrance Test.
The online admission form printout and any related documents should not be submitted to the University.
Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET-2025) Details for Saurashtra University PhD Admission 2025-26
Exam Structure and Pattern
- The question paper will be of 100 marks.
- Each question will carry 1 mark.
- The questions will be of the MCQ type.
- The paper will comprise 50 questions on Research Methodology and 50 questions on the subject concerned.
- There is no negative marking.
- The duration of the examination will be 120 minutes.
- The passing standard is 50% marks for General Category candidates and 45% marks for Reserved Categories (SC, ST, SEBC (NCL), EWS) and PH candidates.
Medium of Examination
- The question paper for the Geography subject will be in English and Gujarati medium.
- The question paper for the Hindi subject will be in Hindi medium.
- The question papers for Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Science Faculty subjects will be in English medium.
The syllabus for the Ph.D. Entrance Test Category is available on the website. There is no provision for re-assessment or re-checking of the entrance examination.
Document Verification & Research Proposal Submission
Qualified Ph.D. Entrance Test Category candidates and all Ph.D. Non-Entrance Test Category candidates must compulsorily get their original certificates verified at the respective Post-Graduate Department.
They must submit the following self-attested documents and the Research Proposal (five copies) to the respective Post-Graduate Department. For Physiotherapy and Geography subjects, documents must be submitted to the PGTR Section, University Main Building.
- Copy of the online registration application.
- Valid EWS certificate.
- PH (Divyang) certificate.
- SC/ST Caste certificate.
- OBC Caste certificate and Non-Creamy Layer certificate (valid for three financial years).
- All mark sheets and Degree Certificates of Graduate and Post-Graduate studies.
- Proof of passing the Ph.D. Entrance Test (if applicable).
- Aadhaar Card.
- Five copies of the Research Proposal.
The date for submission and verification will be announced on the University website later. Candidates who fail to complete verification by the stipulated date will not be considered eligible for admission.
Evaluation Criteria for Final Merit
The final list for Ph.D. admission will be prepared according to UGC rules, using the following weightage:
- Ph.D. Entrance Test Category: 70% weightage to the marks obtained in the Ph.D. Entrance Test + 30% weightage to the DRC performance.
- Ph.D. Non-Entrance Test Category: 70% weightage to the marks obtained in UGC NET-June & December-2024, NET-June-2025, and GSET-December-2024 + 30% weightage to the DRC performance.
Qualified candidates from the Ph.D. Entrance Test Category will be called for the DRC in a 1:6 ratio (six candidates for one vacant seat of the respective category) based on merit. Attendance at the DRC process is mandatory for all qualified candidates; those absent will not be eligible for admission. The DRC schedule will be posted on the respective department’s website and the University website.
Important Notes for Saurashtra University PhD Admission 2025-26
- The application fee of ₹800/- is non-refundable in any circumstances.
- The University reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the Ph.D. Entrance Test.
- Any scholarship related issues, where the guide’s institute lacks recognition for the scholarship, will not be the responsibility of Saurashtra University.
- If a candidate obtains Ph.D. admission by submitting false documents, their admission will be canceled at any stage.
