University of Burdwan PhD Admission 2026 notification has been released for admission to the Ph.D. Programme under the Faculty Council (Science) and Faculty Council (Arts, Commerce, Law, etc.). • Candidates with a Master's Degree in the concerned/allied subject with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade may apply.
• Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor's Degree (with Research) must have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate.
• A relaxation of 5% marks is available for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Differently Abled, EWS and other categories as per applicable rules.
• UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, SET, SLET, GATE, ICMR, DBT, DST INSPIRE Fellows, Teacher Fellowship holders and similar national-level test qualified candidates are eligible.
• Reservation policy of the State Government shall be followed.

Reservation of seats will be applicable as per extant Government Rules and norms.

Each supervisor can guide up to two international research scholars on a supernumerary basis over and above the permitted number of Ph.D. scholars. The concerned Board of Research Studies (BRS) will determine the admission procedure for international applicants according to University Regulations and statutory guidelines.
