University of Hyderabad UOH PhD Admission 2026-27 (September) notification has been released for the September 2026 session. Ph.D. Mathematics — 2 Seats
Candidates must have at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in a Master's degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics.
Admission is through CSIR-UGC NET in Mathematical Sciences. The interview component carries 30 marks, including Research Proposal and its defence, etc. (10 marks), fellowship/M.Phil/NET/SLET etc. (where applicable) and interview (20 marks).
Ph.D. Applied Mathematics — 1 Seat
Candidates must have at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in a Master's degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics.
Admission is through CSIR-UGC NET in Mathematical Sciences. The interview component carries 30 marks, including Research Proposal and its defence, etc. (10 marks) and Interview (20 marks).
Ph.D. Computer Science — 15 Seats
Candidates require any NCRF level 6.5 or higher degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade in one of the specified areas, including Computer Science & Engineering or equivalent as determined by AICTE, Computer Applications, or Computer Science or equivalent, along with a valid UGC-NET score in Computer Science and Applications.
The eligible NET/GATE streams include UGC-NET (Computer Science and Applications), GATE score in CS/IT or Data Science & AI (DA). The document states that the candidates will be tested in the interview starting from basic concepts and general awareness in Computer Science and going up to a higher level of knowledge required of a Ph.D. student.

Ph.D. Electronics Sciences and Engineering — 8 Seats
Admission is through valid UGC/CSIR-NET Category I, II or III score in Electronics Sciences / Physical Sciences, followed by interview. Eligible streams include Electronics Science through UGC-NET or Physical Science through CSIR-NET.
Candidates may qualify through the specified B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. backgrounds with at least 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates with at least 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in B.E./B.Tech. in the specified areas but without an M.E./M.Tech. degree are also eligible.
The notification also specifies an alternative eligibility route through a Master's degree (M.Sc.) with at least 60% aggregate marks or equivalent in Electronics Science, Electronics, Applied Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Engineering Physics, Instrumentation, Physics with Electronics as one of the subjects, Radio Physics or related specified areas.

Ph.D. Chemistry — 49 Seats
Candidates require an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Chemistry or allied subjects with at least 55% marks. The notification specifically states that M.Sc. in Physics, Materials Science or Life Sciences are treated as allied subjects for this purpose.
Admission is through CSIR-UGC NET in Chemical Science and the interview carries 30 marks.
Ph.D. Systems and Computational Biology — 4 Seats
Eligible candidates include those with M.Sc./M.Tech. in Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Biophysics, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks.
A 5-year Integrated M.Sc. in Systems Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics with minimum 55% marks is also specified. Candidates with M.B.B.S, M.V.Sc., specified M.E./M.Tech. degrees or M.Pharm. with at least 55% marks are also eligible as detailed in the notification.
Admission is through the Joint CSIR-UGC NET examination conducted by NTA or DBT/ICMR-JRF. The listed Joint CSIR-UGC NET subjects are Chemical Sciences (subject code 701), Physical Sciences (subject code 705), Life Sciences (subject code 703) and Mathematical Sciences (subject code 704).
Desirable qualifications: Candidates having studied both Mathematics and Biology up to Intermediate/10+2 standard are desirable. The notification also mentions skills such as computer programming (R/C/Python/Java/Fortran/Matlab etc.), Calculus and numerical methods, Mathematical modelling, Statistics and Machine learning methods, and Bioinformatics tools.

Candidates may have an MA in Economics with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade, or a Master's degree in allied subjects including Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Management or any Social Sciences disciplines with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
A four-year BA Honours (with Research) in Economics with 75% marks is also specified. Candidates with a Bachelor's Honours with Research in allied subjects including Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Management or any Social Sciences disciplines with 75% marks are also eligible.
Admission is based on UGC JRF/NET Scores.

Ph.D. Health Sciences: Public Health — 3 Seats
Eligibility includes a Master's Degree in Public Health with at least 55% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination.
Master's degree in Allopathy and Indian Systems of Medicine with at least 55% marks is also specified.
