NEET PG 2026 – Overview
NEET-PG 2026 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Post Graduate) is the single entrance examination for admission to various MD / MS / PG Diploma courses for the academic session 2026–27. As per Section 61(2) of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 read with Chapter IV of the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023, no other entrance examination at the State or Institution level is valid for admission to these courses.
NEET-PG 2026 is also mandatory for admission to Post MBBS DNB Courses, Direct 6 Years DrNB Courses, and NBEMS Diploma Courses. Foreign nationals seeking admission to medical courses in India must also qualify NEET-PG.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducts NEET-PG 2026. The role of NBEMS is limited to conducting the exam, declaring results, and handing over the results to the designated counseling authority. NBEMS has no role in counseling and seat allotment.

NEET PG 2026 – Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to appear in NEET-PG 2026:
For Indian Medical Graduates
- Possess an MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized as per the provisions of the NMC Act, 2019 and Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023.
- Possess Permanent or Provisional registration of MBBS qualification issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) / erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council.
- Have completed one year of internship or are likely to complete it on or before 30-09-2026.
For Foreign Medical Graduates
- Indian Citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have obtained their Primary Medical Qualifications from outside India must have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) / Screening Test as per Screening Test Regulations, 2002.
- Must be registered with the NMC / erstwhile MCI or State Medical Council.
- Must have completed internship or likely to complete it on or before 30-09-2026.
For Foreign Nationals
- Basic Medical Qualification (equivalent to MBBS) must be recognized by the NMC.
- Foreign Nationals requiring security clearance as per Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) requirements must obtain the same before applying.
- They may be granted temporary registration by NMC for the duration of the Post Graduate course.

NEET PG 2026 – Exam Scheme & Pattern
The NEET-PG 2026 exam is a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted in a single shift on 30-08-2026.
Exam Pattern
- Total Questions: 180 MCQs
- Time Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes
- Language: English only
- Marking Scheme:
- +4 marks for each correct answer
- –1 mark for each incorrect answer
- 0 marks for unattempted questions
Time-Bound Sections
The question paper is divided into five time-bound sections – Group A, B, C, D, and E – each containing 36 questions. Each section has a dedicated time of 42 minutes. Candidates cannot proceed to the next section until the allotted time for the current section is completed, and they cannot review or modify answers of a section after its time is over.
- Questions can be marked for review – they will be evaluated as per the marking scheme.
- The exam syllabus is based on the MBBS curriculum issued by NMC / erstwhile MCI.
- Demo Test will be available on the NBEMS website from 15-08-2026 onwards for candidates to familiarize themselves with the CBT format.
NEET PG 2026 – Qualifying Criteria
Candidates must secure the minimum percentile to be considered for admission to MD / MS / PG Diploma courses through NEET-PG 2026.

NEET PG 2026 – Admit Card
The NEET-PG 2026 Admit Card will be available for download on the NBEMS website (https://natboard.edu.in) from 27-08-2026 onwards.
- Admit cards will not be sent by post. Candidates must download them from the NBEMS website using their login credentials.
- Candidates found ineligible before the conduct of the examination will not be issued an admit card.
- Candidates must bring a coloured printout of the admit card along with a coloured photocopy of their SMC / NMC (erstwhile MCI) registration certificate to the exam centre.
- A valid photo ID (PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card with photograph) must be carried in original.
- Aadhaar-based authentication will be done for candidates who have provided Aadhaar details. Candidates must ensure their Aadhaar biometric authentication is not locked/disabled on the exam day.
NEET PG 2026 – Result
The NEET-PG 2026 Result will be declared by 30-09-2026 on the NBEMS website (https://natboard.edu.in).
- The result will be available in the form of a scorecard that candidates can download from the NBEMS website using their login credentials.
- The scorecard will be available for download only for six (06) months from the date of result declaration.
- No re-evaluation, rechecking, or re-totaling of responses will be done. Requests for the same shall not be entertained.
- Questions can be challenged for technical errors within two (02) calendar days after the conduct of the examination (i.e., till 01-09-2026).
- The answer key will be published on the NBEMS website as per Hon'ble Supreme Court orders.
Validity of Result: The result of NEET-PG 2026 is valid only for the 2026–27 admission session and cannot be carried forward.

- Lesser number of negative responses in Section A, then B, then C, then D, then E
- Higher aggregate marks (in percentage) in all MBBS Professional Examinations
- Older candidate (higher age)
NEET PG 2026 – Counseling & Reservation
Counseling for NEET-PG 2026 will be conducted by the designated counseling authority:
- 50% All India Quota seats – by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) of DGHS, MoHFW, Govt. of India.
- State Quota seats – by respective State Counseling Authorities.
- Deemed / Central Universities – by MCC.
- AFMS Institutions – by Armed Forces Medical Services.
Reservation Policy
- Reservation for PG medical seats is as per the norms of the Government of India and respective State Governments.
- OCI cardholders are treated at par with Indian citizens and are eligible for UR (General) category seats as well as NRI seats.
- NRI candidates are eligible for both NRI seats and Indian National seats as per merit.
- OBC – NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates are eligible for OBC reservation in MCC counseling.
