The Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT), 2025 (Phase I, Written Test) is scheduled for admission to the Ph.D. Programmes for the 2025-2026 session. The written test is scheduled for August 30, 2025, from 10:30 am to 01:30 pm. The DURAT is conducted to select eligible candidates for admission to the university’s Ph.D. programs.

Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate must have a 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree, or a 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade.
- For candidates with a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 75% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade is required for admission.
- A 5% relaxation in marks or an equivalent grade is allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Differently-Abled, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories.
- A candidate may also be enrolled if they hold a degree recognized as equivalent to a Master’s Degree in the subject they wish to pursue research.
- In special circumstances, the Research Council may allow a candidate to conduct research in a subject different from their Master’s degree, provided the branches are inter-related and the candidate is deemed competent.
- Candidates with a B.E./B.Tech. degree and a valid JRF/GATE score may also be considered for admission to the Ph.D. program.
Application Process
- Candidates must register on the online application portal on the university’s website, www.dibru.ac.in, by providing their full name, password, and a mobile number.
- An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number for account activation.
- After activation, candidates can log in using their mobile number and password.
- The application fee of Rs. 950/- must be paid online using a Debit (ATM) Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking. No other payment methods are accepted.
- Candidates can save and review the information before final submission, but editing is not possible after submission.
- Upon successful submission and payment, candidates will receive a fee payment receipt. They should print the payment receipt, application form, and admit card. The printed admit card must be brought to the examination center.
Selection Procedure
- The DURAT has two phases: Phase I is a written test (single paper, 100 marks, 70% weightage) and Phase II is a viva-voce conducted by the concerned department (30% weightage).
- The written test (Phase I) has a qualifying mark of 50%, with a 5% relaxation for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and EWS.
- The written test paper will have two parts: 25% on Research Methodology/Research Aptitude and 75% from the subject’s core components. The paper is worth 100 marks and the exam duration is three hours.
- The paper pattern includes both Multiple Choice Objective Type (MCQ) questions and Descriptive Type questions. MCQs will have negative marking of 25% of the allotted marks.
- A list of provisionally selected candidates will be prepared based on performance in both phases. Admission of selected candidates will be finalized as per subsequent notifications.
- In general, not more than 50% of the seats in each subject will be filled by DURAT-qualified candidates, with the remaining 50% for DURAT-exempted candidates. The concerned Departmental Research Committee (DRC) will accommodate candidates based on interview performance, area of specialization, and the prospective supervisor’s specialization.
