NIT Patna PhD Admission 2026 (July) notification has been released for admission to the Ph.D. Programme for the Odd Semester (July–December 2026) under Academic Session 2026-27. National Institute of Technology Patna has invited online applications for admission through Institute Admission Test and/or Interview. The institute is also offering opportunities for selection to JRF/SRF positions under externally funded research projects.
The Ph.D. admission process includes Full-Time scholars with fellowship, sponsored candidates, candidates supported by government agencies, and eligible JRF/SRF scholars working on funded projects. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed eligibility criteria and complete the online application process before the deadline.

The screening test syllabus will be as per the GATE/NET syllabus of the respective discipline. Candidates qualifying the screening test will be shortlisted for the interview. Sponsored candidates and candidates supported by government agencies will directly appear for the interview.
Institute Research Fellowship/Assistantship will be available to eligible students as per Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India norms. The amount and duration of fellowship shall be governed by notifications issued by the competent authority from time to time.
Selected candidates must execute an undertaking or agreement bond stating that any stipend, scholarship or assistantship received from the institute will be refunded if the scholar leaves the programme before completion.
