Candidates fulfilling both the eligibility criteria mentioned under Point I and Point II of the notification shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
Point I: Qualifying Tests / Qualifications
A candidate may satisfy Point I through any of the following qualifications mentioned in the notification:
- UGC-NET, including JRF.
- UGC-CSIR-NET, including JRF.
- GATE.
- CEED.
- Similar National-level tests.
- SET/SLET.
- M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade.
- Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution meeting the accreditation requirements specified in the notification.
Point II: Master's Degree Qualification
Candidates must have completed one of the master's degree routes specified in the notification. This includes a 1-year/2-semester master's degree after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree or a 2-year/4-semester master's degree after a 3-year bachelor's degree, or a qualification declared equivalent to the master's degree by the corresponding statutory or regulatory body.
The master's degree qualification requires at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever a grading system is followed. Equivalent qualifications from foreign educational institutions are subject to the accreditation requirements specified in the notification.
A relaxation of 5% marks or equivalent grade may be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories as notified by the UGC and UT of J&K from time to time.
For candidates seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree programme, the notification specifies a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade. A relaxation of 5% may be allowed for the categories specified in the notification.
