About the Scheme

The Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM) is a flagship initiative of the Government of West Bengal. It aims to assist meritorious students from economically backward families in West Bengal to pursue higher studies at various levels, from Class 11 to Doctoral research.

General Eligibility Criteria

CriteriaRequirement
DomicileMust be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
Family IncomeNot more than ₹2,50,000/- per annum. (Not applicable for K3).
Institution LocationMust be studying in a recognized institution within West Bengal.
Course TypeMust be enrolled in a Regular/Full-time course.

Application Steps

Step 1: Registration

Visit the official portal and select the appropriate Directorate based on your course (DSE, DPI, DTE, DME, etc.). Fill in the registration form to generate an Applicant ID.

Step 2: Login & Profile Update

Login using the Applicant ID and Password. Complete the basic details, upload your photograph and signature.

Step 3: Document Upload & Submission

Upload all scanned supporting documents in PDF format (Max 400KB). Finalize and submit the application.

Documents Required (Fresh)

  • Marksheet of Madhyamik/Equivalent (Both sides).
  • Marksheet of the last qualifying examination (Both sides).
  • Admission Receipt of the current course.
  • Income Certificate of family (except for K3).
  • Domicile Certificate (Aadhaar/Voter ID/Ration Card).
  • First page of Bank Passbook (with A/C No. & IFSC).
  • Institution Head's declaration for any Year Gap.

Renewal Guidelines

Renewal applications must be submitted online within one month of promotion to the next class.

LevelAcademic Requirement
HS to UG LevelMinimum 60% marks in previous exam/semesters.
PG LevelMinimum 50% marks in previous semesters.

Note: Both semester marksheets are required for semester-based systems.
